He was called to the Bar at the Middle Temple in the 1960s. He is currently a Visiting Fellow of the Faculty of Business and Law, Kingston University. He is also a founder member of the Advisory Panel of the Muslim Law Shariah Council (United Kingdom). In 1999 he was awarded the MBE for his interfaith work. Raficq has been a trustee of the Poetry Society, Planet Poetry and of English PEN where he was acting President. He is the author of three books on poetry.)
