<br/><br/> Original Author: The foundational ḥadīth text was compiled by Majd al-Dīn Ibn Taymīyah (the grandfather of the famous Ibn Taymīyah).  Commentator: Imam al-Shawkānī explained and expanded upon the legal rulings extracted from the ḥadīths.  Al-Shawkānī critically analyzes the chain of narrators (isnād) and derives legal rulings directly from the texts, heavily leaning towards the principles of independent reasoning (ijtihād) over blind adherence to a single madhhab.
